For wedding planners

The '60s large-format vintage camera that travels to your wedding anywhere in Italy, and asks nothing of you on the day.

It sets up wherever the day needs it and prints unlimited keepsakes with your couple's names and their date. Fabio and Serena come with it. There is no one for you to brief.

The Gran Camera Booth, a '60s large-format vintage camera, beside a bride and guests laughing at a fresh print, in a Puglia masseria

Every supplier you add to a wedding is one more thing to brief, place, feed and chase through the afternoon.

This one adds a gathering point to the room
and nothing at all to your running order.

The object

This is the camera that arrives at the wedding party.

Large format, 1960s, wooden tripod. Restored and fitted with the technology it needs to print on the spot, without losing any of what it was.

You choose the spot, and which part of the day it belongs to: the garden at welcome drinks, the dining room over dinner, the edge of the dancefloor once the party starts. Indoors or out, with nothing to assemble.

There is no second one.

Why it works abroad

What it does for a destination wedding

Guests who flew in go home with something in their hand luggage.

Every shot produces an instant print, that same day, with the couple's names and wedding date on it. Not a gallery link that lands in an inbox three weeks later, when everyone is back at work.

It goes where the day happens: welcome drinks, dinner, the party.

No van stuck in the car park, no fixed pitch away from the guests. The garden of a masseria, the terrace of a villa on the coast, the ballroom of a palazzo: you pick the spot with us, and if it is outdoors we agree the covered alternative in advance.

Nobody has to announce it, and that includes you.

The camera is over sixty years old and looks it. Guests stop in front of it out of curiosity, ask what it is, and stay. No microphone, no slot in the running order, no one from your team standing next to it.

It covers the hour you always have to cover.

While the couple is away for the formal photographs, the room usually drifts. Drinks in hand, phones out, conversations running dry. This is exactly the stretch the camera fills, without being asked to.

It does not compete with the photographer you have already booked.

The two are booked separately and do different jobs. The photographer follows the couple. The camera stays with the guests. Neither one gets in the other's way.

You can keep it on through the evening party, when the guest list is at its biggest.

Evening guests arrive after the wedding breakfast, and for many of them the first dance is the first time they see the couple all day. They are the ones most likely to go home without a single photo with the newlyweds, or with the friends they only see at weddings. In front of the camera they get one, and they take it away printed.

Where we go

Based in Puglia. Working across Italy.

The camera lives in Lecce, and it travels. Lake Como and Lake Garda, the Amalfi Coast with Positano and Ravello, the Val d'Orcia in Tuscany, Rome, Capri, and baroque Sicily from Noto to Taormina and Ortigia, and the venues in between that only you and your couples know about.

Send the date and the venue before you put your supplier list together. We call you back within two hours, so you know straight away whether it is free, which is the only answer that helps you at that stage.

How it works with you

Three steps, and two of them are ours.

01

You send the date and the venue

That is the whole brief. We call you back within two hours, before you have to put anything in front of your couple.

02

We agree the right spot

We work out the position with you, against your floor plan and the flow of the day, before anything is confirmed. No surprises on the day.

03

We arrive, set up, run it, take it away

Transport, setup, the whole reception, unlimited prints, packing away. Your run sheet has one line on it, and that line looks after itself.

Who turns up

No agency. Two people.

Fabio De Gabrieli and Serena Bernardi have worked in weddings for over fifteen years, in Italy and abroad. The Gran Camera Booth is theirs, and they are the ones who bring it.

Which means the person answering your email in February is the person walking into the venue in September. Nothing is passed to a third party, and nothing about your wedding gets explained twice.

The practical part

What planners ask first

Where in Italy do you travel?

Anywhere in Italy. We are based in Lecce, in Puglia, and we take the camera to the whole country: Lake Como and Lake Garda, the Amalfi Coast with Positano and Ravello, the Val d'Orcia in Tuscany, Rome, Capri, and baroque Sicily from Noto to Taormina and Ortigia. Send us the date and the venue and we will tell you straight away whether it is free.

Who runs the camera on the day?

Fabio De Gabrieli and Serena Bernardi, in person. There are no subcontracted operators and no agency behind us. The people who answer your email are the people who walk into the venue.

What do you need from the venue?

Somewhere to stand, and you choose where: the garden at welcome drinks, the terrace over cocktails, the dining room, the edge of the dancefloor once the party starts. Indoors or out makes little difference to it. We agree the position with you before anything is confirmed to your couple, so it works with your floor plan rather than against it.

What do I have to organise?

The date and the venue. Nothing else. The camera needs no announcement, no slot in the running order and no member of your team looking after it. Guests come over on their own because of what it is.

Does it clash with the photographer or the videographer?

No. The Gran Camera Booth is booked entirely on its own and does a different job: the photographer follows the couple, the camera stays with the guests. Couples often book both, and the two never get in each other's way.

What if it rains?

It is settled in advance. If the spot you choose is outdoors, we work out the covered alternative with the venue at the same time, so nobody is improvising on the day. That is the practical difference with a vintage van, which stays where it is parked whatever the sky does.

Do you work through me or directly with the couple?

Whichever you prefer. Tell us how you run your suppliers and we follow that: everything through you, or straight to the couple with you copied in.

How do we hold a date?

Write with the date and the venue. We call you back within two hours, and the answer is a clear one: the date is either free or it is not.

The main page is written for the couple: where the camera comes from, what happens at the party, what guests walk away holding. When you need to show the Gran Camera Booth to a couple, send them that one.
